What Are Peptic Ulcers?

Peptic ulcers are painful sores that occur in the lining of the stomach, lower esophagus, or small intestine. They’re usually occur as a result of inflammation caused by the bacteria H. pylori, as well as from occur due to increasing hydrochloric acid, is the result of acidity. Peptic ulcers are most common health problem nowadays. When peptic ulcers occur, the life become painful. The patient survives for how long without eating food. When patient eats food, the severe pain starts in his/her stomach. These are three types of peptic ulcers:

gastric ulcer:  which develop inside the stomach. In gastric ulcer, pain increased when food reached in the stomach.

esophageal ulcer:  which develop inside the esophagus. In esophageal ulcer, patient feels pain in the back between the shoulders. It hurts a lot when food get through the food canal.

duodenal ulcer:  which develop in the upper section of the small intestines, called the duodenum. In duodenal ulcer, patient feel pain increased when food reached in the intestines.

Causes of Peptic Ulcers!

There are different reasons can cause the lining of the stomach, the esophagus, and the small intestine to be troubled. These are including:

• Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a type of bacteria that can cause a stomach infection and inflammation
• frequent use of antibiotics, or drug abuse
• smoking
• drinking too much alcohol
• eating too much spicy food
• fast food and cold drinks
• radiation therapy
• stomach cancer

Sign and Symptoms of Peptic Ulcers!

The most common sign and symptom of a peptic ulcer is burning abdominal pain that extends from the navel to the chest, which can range from mild to severe. In few cases, the pain may wake patient up at night. Small peptic ulcers may not show any symptoms in the early stages. Other signs and symptoms of peptic ulcers are including:

• changes in appetite
• nausea
• dark stools along blood
• unexplained weight loss
• indigestion
• vomiting
• chest pain
